December 13th. It had been grey and dreich* but as I was heading home I noticed that the fog, mist and clouds were clearing, so grabbed the camera and a tripod and watched nature do its best to dress up the normal view of Stirling Castle with a foggy flourish.
The images caught the eye of many on social media and other places, with it appearing on a number of news sites and in across the national press. It's now licensed through an independent press agency as I couldn't keep up with all the request to use them on various platforms. 
It's also been shortlisted in their 'Best of 2022' images on their website and that's currently open for voting:
So, overall, very pleased with this one - a favourite of 2022 for sure.
*(Scottish word for 'grey and dreich')

As the fog cleared after a few days of sub-zero temperatures, the trees around the castle looked like they had been in the freezer all week.

The twilight time and the warm lights from within the castle added a prefect colour scheme to enhance the fairytale effect.

And for a bit of fun, I used one of the shots, added some custom brushes and a starry background to create a more enhanced version....

With some basic edits in Lightroom, then into Photoshop for tweak or two (brushed in some more fog and mist, removed some of the distractions, and switched a few more window lights on.

The flat blue sky was nice as it was, but added a starry night image and a bit of colour grading to the final version.
