I was really pleased to have this image shortlisted and commended in the 2016 Scottish Landscape Photographer of the Year competition. I'd been encouraging some photography students to enter* and thought it'd be good to lead by example this year and so submitted some from the back catalogue.
This shot of Longannet Power Station was taken back in November 2015. The place had a shelf life of thirty years when it opened in 1970 so had been on borrowed time for a while. It's didn't make making it past March 2016 though, when it was wound down and mothballed. The cottage that's stood indignantly here for for over a hundred years won't need quite as heavy curtains from here-on-in.
*(One winner in the Urban category, another Commended in the same this year. Great result)
