On this day in 1305, a long way from the monument to his memory on top of the Abbey Craig here, and from the battlefields in which his reputation was set down in history, William Wallace was tried and executed for treason against the English King. A bit of a gruesome affair by all accounts. Commemorated and committed to celluloid by the equally notorious Mel Gibson centuries later and, by some accounts, considered an equally gruesome affair (or, at least, a little light on authenticity). Still, it all gave me another excuse to wander down to the banks of the Forth for a bit of peace and quiet. And Freedom.
So, the daily post thing's now pie in the sky. Posts will arrive here as and when. Daily-ish. Weekly-ish. Random-ish.
