iBri Daily-ish

So, the daily post thing's now pie in the sky. Posts will arrive here as and when. Daily-ish. Weekly-ish. Random-ish.

Any excuse to stop off for a break. The view's nice though.

Brakes fixed, cables sorted, adjustments adjusted... time to head out and about. Fresh (freezing) it was, but the sun was shining and, as long as you didn't stop for too long, the cold wasn't all that noticeable.

Followed the river along the muddy tracks and stopped off down here at The Shore for a breather. I'd been trying to remember a quote from Daniel Defoe that's engraved into one of the slabs:

"At Alloa... A merchant may trade to all parts of the world..."

Not sure why I was trying to remember that, but it had been niggling away at me for a while. There's not much trade of any description from the boats now, but there are plenty of lorries heading out from the nearby glass works. I'm sure the bottles made in there make their way to the four corners of the planet.

I headed out for a circuit of the local dam (Gartmorn). After managing to get absolutely caked in mud and feeling the cold and wet starting to make its way through the layers, I called it a day. Nothing left to do but head off to Tesco, shove a couple of bottles or red in the pannier and head back home  to the warmth.

A good Friday.
